My love of art and architecture began at a young age. I grew up in Long Beach, Mississippi, and I loved everything about the Gulf Coast. Eventually, I attended the University of Southern Mississippi and graduated with a degree in Interior Design, but it was the architecture of the coast that captured my heart and mind.
Shortly after I graduated, I married my high school sweetheart and became a soldier's wife. Even though the military moved us away from Mississippi, it could never take the Mississippi out of me.
August 29th, 2005, Hurricane Katrina descended upon our beautiful coast like an uninvited guest, and it immediately redefined our reality to became a new and very devastating normal. Church steeples were on the ground while pews were in piles. Many restaurants had nothing but floor tiles left to identify them. There are simply no words for the destroyed homes and the loss of life.
Over the years following, I continued to remember and yearn for these many lost landmarks. As an artist, my mission is to help restore those beautiful memories made before the devastation on August 17th, 1969 and August 29th, 2005. Since creating art has always brought peace to my own life, my hope is that it could help do the same for yours.
